1+1=1

We first met Pastor Hung at a BBQ gathering, where Chris was the only non Cantonese speaker in the group and he was in the garden alone managing the barbecue.  When Pastor John and Patty Ximo arrived, Pastor went into the garden and chatted to Chris for awhile, keeping him company.  He was kind, caring and wanted to spend time to get to know us, especially Chris better.   Since then, everytime we met, often with a big crowd at events at WMC, Pastor John would always make an effort to come over to say hi and chatted to us.  This might be seen as a small gesture, but it meant a lot to us.

When we asked if he would give the message at our wedding, he replied to our email within hours with a big yes.  His message made such an impression to all our guests that many friends and family, including those in Chris's church and his relatives from Ghana, still talked that inspiring message until now.

We visited Pastor John and Patty Ximo a few years ago when he just finished his first round of treatment.  He was joking with us how he is grateful that the treatment didn't have too many side effects, especially not causing any hair loss.  We were both uplifted by his positive spirit despite his illness, inspired by his faith and trust in the Lord.

1+1=1, 1+1=2, 1+1=3, these are the three equations Pastor John gave us in the message he gave at our wedding. He also told us that marriage is not a sprint but a marathon.  We will forever treasure the words he shared with us on our special day in our hearts to help us keep our marriage "on track".

We are immensely grateful for the words he shared with us at our wedding and the kindness he has shown us throughout the years.

Thank you Pastor John and may you rest in peace with the Lord.
